The 2026 militant film workshop The Image Belongs to Those Who Work with It, led by Karla Crnčević and Dina Pokrajac, was aimed at film and migrant workers and refugees.
Through shared meetings, working in pairs and exchanging experiences, participants from Zagreb, Eritrea, Nepal and Egypt developed short films that approach the image as a space of encounter, resistance and collective work. The aim of the program was to open the domain of culture and cinema to those who often do not have access to it, to connect film practice more strongly with engaged and political action, and to reflect on the role of film in contemporary struggles on the ground. Through several public events, we also recalled the historical role of cinema in workers’ and anti-colonial struggles.
The workshop was organised in collaboration with SPID and Kino Unseen (Centar za dramsku umjetnost).
